This stuff is worth 1/2 million dollars, and cost the buyer 1/2 million --
we are liquidating for just a little over $100,000.00.
I tried cold-calling purchasing at a major Cable / Telephone company, spoke with low-level guy in purchasing.
He said they are paying $7.00 per foot for same stuff right now… BUT he can't do anything because they have
exclusive contract with Corning to buy only from them - so they will spend $560,000.00 on exact same cable
in next month, rather than a couple bucks on our stuff - idiot!... Just a low-level guy touting the company line…
We need to get to some people with pull, decision makers.
Also, I went through expense of having this stuff fully inspected, and approved, by DerDan Enterprises --
top cable restoration and inspection company in country.
Here is excerpt:
All the reels are in good condition, and have steel inserts at the center Hole for the reel trailer bars.
The cable was manufactured by Alcoa Fujikura Limited (AFL). The sheaths have 3 PE jackets and 1 layer of kevlar,
with 2 layers of buffer tubes wrapped in a
R.O.L. configuration (9 tubes, Blue Yellow, in the first wrap, 15 tubes,
Violet - Dash/Aqua outside) around a P.E coated GRP central strength member. There are good ripcords incorporated
within the layers, facilitating preparation. There are 24 buffer tubes of 18 fibers to each tube, the 13th-18th fibers marked
approx every 6” with black dots for identification. There is a light flooding (moisture block) inside the sheath.
I have listed below, by sheath number, the date of manufacture, length in feet, and notes pertaining to that reel.
| Sheath # | Date of Manufacture | Length |
| 910032-00 | 1999 | 14,422' |
| 910031-00 | 1999 | 14,184' |
| 910030-00 | 1999 | 14,230' |
| 001116-00 | 2000 | 13,608' |
| 001017-00 | 2000 | 12,864' |
| 001018-00 | 2000 | 13,504 |
Please see the pictures. Based on the AFL part Number (AN432HIO31CB0), the glass is Corning,
SMF-28, single mode fiber, with a max. loss of .35db/km @ 1310nm, and .25db/km @ 1550nm.
